Josien Schrijnemakers

Programme Coordinator The Netherlands

Josien joined the Bernard van Leer Foundation in November 2021 as Programme Coordinator for the Netherlands. She is an experienced project manager with a passion for human rights, an interest in social matters and a drive to contribute to a better world for the current, as well as future generations.

She is the proud mom of two young children and lives in Amsterdam, where she obtained her Master in International Relations from the University of Amsterdam. Prior to this, she completed a Bachelor in Interdisciplinary Social Science at Utrecht University.

Previously, Josien worked for Human Rights Watch and the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism – The Hague and interned for the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the United Nations in New York. In the past, she also volunteered for VluchtelingenWerk Nederland, Amnesty International and Child in Need Institute Holland.
