BvLF Executive Director moderates UN General Assembly event
The agenda for this week’s UN General Assembly includes a side event on Friday 22 September: Children’s right to participation and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Co-hosted by the Governments of Chile and Finland, alongside UNICEF and UNDP, the event will raise awareness of children’s right to participate in the implementation of the SDGs and discuss how to ensure the existence of mechanisms for children to express their views and influence decisions.
The president of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, will discuss the country’s “Yo Opino, es mi Derecho” initiative (“I give my opinion, it is my right”).
BvLF Executive Director Michael Feigelson is moderating. Other speakers include the former President of Finland, Tarja Halonen; Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF, Justin Forsyth; UN Assistant Secretary-General and Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, Jessica Faieta; and Executive Secretary of the National Council for Children, Estela Ortíz.
