Dutch campaign presents practical tips for parents of young children
Brain development is most rapid in the first four years of life – but three-fifths of Dutch adults are not aware of how important their children’s early years are in laying the foundations for future social, emotional and cognitive development.

The Nationale Denktank (National Think Tank) came up with a solution: the Baby Guide, a national awareness campaign which offers five practical tips to support children’s brain development, alongside information on the importance of the early years. Part of the campaign is the BabystAPP, an app that helps parents to turn daily activities into learning moments.

The National Think Tank is currently appealing for producers and sellers of products for young children, national parents’ committees and other interested parties to help put the Baby Guide on the national agenda in the Netherlands. More information about the Baby Guide and the ideas of the Nationale Denktank can be found on their website, where you can also download the complete 2015 report (Leer Wijzer, in Dutch) with 10 solutions for future-proofing the education system in the Netherlands.

The Bernard van Leer Foundation is one of the four theme partners of the National Think Tank 2015.
