Streets for Kids: a new initiative to improve urban design

Published April 18, 2018

We are supporting NACTO, an association of 60 major North American cities, to develop new technical guidance and advance street designs that create safe public spaces for kids of all ages to learn, play and move around a city.

The Streets for Kids programme will supplement the Global Street Design Guide, which was published in 2016, as part of NACTO’s Global Designing Cities Initiative. Our support is part of our Urban95 programme, which encourages consideration of urban life from the perspective of young children and their caregivers.

The new programme is also being backed by Bloomberg Philanthropies, the Botnar Foundation and the FIA Foundation. Read more about it in NACTO’s press release.
