Urban95 launches in Udaipur

The Urban95 initiative has formally launched in Udaipur at an event hosted by ICLEI South Asia. Udaipur Urban95 is a result of a partnership between the Udaipur Municipal Corporation and the Bernard van Leer Foundation, with ICLEI South Asia coming on board as the technical partner for the initiative. Poised to become one of Urban95’s 10 pioneering cities, Udaipur joined other cities—such as Tel Aviv, Istanbul, Pune, Recife, and Sao Paulo—last year with the signing of an MOU between the municipality and the Foundation.

The day-long workshop included presentations on national and international initiatives, and brainstorming on transforming Udaipur into a city that responds to the needs of infants, toddlers and caregivers. It was attended by the mayor, municipal commissioner and other officials from across the municipal government, along with civil society stakeholders, architects, and other urban sector experts.
