Informing design and implementation for early child development programmes

There is global interest in early child development, especially following the launch of the Nurturing Care Framework in 2018, which sets out the dream to reach every child, everywhere, and give a policy framing. Five papers and an editorial have been published in Archives of Disease in Childhood, developed by over 30 authors to provide practical, evidence-based information on implementation for early child development.

The series is structured around a programme cycle and guides policymakers and programmers through: situational assessment, measurement of early child development outcomes in routine settings, trends in donor funding, and multi-stakeholder perspectives on scaling and implementation. The development of the series was funded through the Bernard van Leer Foundation and builds on the evaluation of innovations for early child development of Saving Brains funded by Grand Challenges Canada. More information on the series can be read here.
