Parenting: How home visiting practices in Brazil adapted to the pandemic report, infographic and videos

Due to sanitary restrictions, home visitors and family support professionals from all over Brazil had to innovate and adapt practices to provide continued support to families and connect them with institutional resources to help address diverse needs.

To shine a light on good practices emerging from the pandemic, the Bernard van Leer Foundation and the Maria Cecilia Vidigal Foundation instituted the Parenting Award in 2020, which recognized 100 home visitors with inspiring across the country.

Infographic

An infographic visualizes the guiding principles ​​of the Parenting Award,  takes stock of advances and challenges related to home visiting, and brings information of winning experiences by region, programme and gender.

Video series

In this series professionals discuss the role of home visiting as a public service and its potential to strengthen parenting skills to benefit child development. The videos tackle issues such as: the importance of home visiting for early childhood, and the challenges of home visiting in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
