Based on the three case studies in Belfast, Ghent and Rome, this report brings out key findings on Roma inclusion with respect to parenting support, access to quality early childhood services, influencing public awareness and capacity building and empowerment of Roma actors. It presents policy recommendations agreed at a roundtable with ISSA and the Bernard van Leer Foundation in September 2016.
The projects all aimed to address the multiple disadvantages suffered by Roma communities due to poverty and exclusion. They all recognised the need for change at several levels – empowerment of the Roma community, acceptance and support from the wider public, and a favourable policy environment, which would improve access and quality of service provision.
This publication is part of a collection on the empowerment and support of young Roma families, produced together with the International Step by Step Association (ISSA).
This collection compiles key findings on Roma inclusion in the context of early childhood development.
