Services for Children and Family in Istanbul District Municipalities

This report summaries early childhood services across 39 districts in Istanbul to inform policy discussions around improving them.

This bilingual report (in English and Turkish) summarises how the Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation (TESEV) produced an interactive map of services for children and families across 39 district municipalities in Istanbul, correlated with data about the child population and socio-economic indicators, in collaboration with the Kadir Has University Istanbul Studies Centre and with funding from the Bernard van Leer Foundation. The maps, available at belediye.istanbul95.org, aim to inform the policy discussion about improving targeting and provision of services for young children and families in the districts.

Rapid urbanisation and the problems that come along with it have increasingly drawn concepts like the right to the city, access to the city, and quality of urban life to the centre of discussion in the process of identifying urban policies.
