Melissa van Well-DijkshoornCommunications and Knowledge Uptake Officer
Melissa joined the Bernard van Leer Foundation in 2012. In her role as Communications & Knowledge Uptake Officer, she manages projects related to knowledge production and uptake, network development, visual storytelling, and social and digital platforms. She also conceptualizes and leads on the Foundation’s creative initiatives like the Young Explorers films and the Through my eyes photography project. Melissa holds a bachelor’s degree in International Business and Languages as well as an associate degree in Crossmedia Communications.
As a mother of two adventurous boys, Melissa feels strongly about our mission of giving a good start to all children. Living with her family in Rotterdam reminds her every day how important it is for cities to be designed with its youngest urban residents and their families in mind.
Melissa also loves photography – taking snaps of her children, the beautiful things Rotterdam has to offer and her 1930’s house which she is currently renovating. She is happiest when playing with her children, who teach her an amazing number of new things. Currently mainly about dinosaurs, love and how to appreciate the small things.
