Rachel Machefsky

Early Childhood Development Specialist

Rachel Machefsky (@_RaeMae) has worked to promote the well-being of young children and their families for more than six years. As the Early Childhood Development Specialist with the Knowledge for Policy Team, Rachel helps to develop and share knowledge on early childhood development globally. In addition to supporting the Foundation’s country programmes, she focuses on Parents+, The Work Force Initiative, Early Childhood Matters, and developing measures of early childhood development.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Rachel worked for UNFPA, Save the Children, SUAAHARA and UNICEF. She has worked directly with young children in both classroom and psychology laboratory settings. Originally from the US, Rachel has also made her home in Israel, Nepal and Thailand and is currently based in the Netherlands. Rachel holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Psychology from Barnard College of Columbia University in New York and a Master’s degree in Mind, Brain, and Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
