Urban95 City: São Paulo
The Bernard van Leer Foundation has a partnership with public authorities in São Paulo through the National Association of Public Transportation (ANTP). We are collaborating on various initiatives including the São Paulo Basics campaign, and working with ANTP to ensure that young children and families benefit from the new options for mobility and leisure areas being created by a new bus corridor and terminal in the Campo Limpo district.
Among a number of other early-stage projects with local civil society partners, the most advanced is the Reference Centre for Early Childhood, which started in March 2017. It works in Parelheiros, a region on the city’s southern outskirts which is far from the centre and many amenities, and aims to become a reference for knowledge and practices for other city regions.
